Downtown Denver Is Changing

Denver is an amazing place to call home and is the No. 1 destination for Millennials, or people born between the years of 1981 and 2000. Abundant outdoor activities are a huge part of why so many young Americans are moving to the mile high city, and Denver is also a great place to work and play. Within Denver, downtown in particular is quickly becoming a more desirable area for people to live. Over 17,000 people live downtown and the average age is 33 years old. The average annual household income is just over $75,000 and 60% have a college education.

Downtown Denver is experiencing quite the building boom, with over 60 large projects in the planning stages or currently being constructed.  Apartment buildings, lofts and condos, and office buildings are being built throughout the city. When all projects are complete Denver will have added more than 2,800 additional apartment units to its city’s core, and the downtown population is predicted to grow by over 18 percent.

Union Station is currently undergoing the biggest change with large offices, apartments, and new shops and restaurants being constructed all around the station. The Union Station area will also add two large supermarkets. Both King Sooper’s and Whole Foods will soon supply a huge needed demand to downtown.

This is just the beginning for development in this great city and it will only keep getting better. I will provide ongoing updates in the future for what is being added downtown and in other hot neighborhoods in Denver, so please stay tuned!
