Mindfulness Tips as Days Grow Shorter

With autumn falling into winter, the days are shorter and it's dark before many get home from work. Not to mention the year we're having... Real Simple's Lisa Milbrand puts it well in this article, saying, "many of the things we’ve grown accustomed to having in our lives to spark joy and reset are a bit harder to come by, whether it’s travel to far-off locales, visiting with friends and family members (at least indoors), or even just a concert or a dinner out."

These next few months could be a challenge, but with these strategies, we can all practice mindfulness for a more sustainable winter. Here are a few favorites from Lisa's article:

This could be a daily habit, a plan for the day, or even just a grocery list. Accomplishing things will not only help the time pass, but you'll feel a sense of pride looking at a finished plan or to-do list.

With the sun coming in earlier, rise and shine! Get bundled up and drink your coffee on the porch, or better yet, take the dog or yourself for a walk! The solace in the morning gives your mind a chance to wake and wander without real-life rushing in too soon.

And a sad playlist and a workout playlist and a chill playlist. Music is such a great expression, but you don't always want to dance, sometimes you need to go through the hard stuff instead of around it. After your sad playlist ends, play a hopeful song as you move about your day.
