Denver Upcoming, Fun Events

Once the leftover turkey and mashed potatoes are gone and you’ve gotten in your nap, it’s time to get out of the house -- and not just to score Black Friday deals. Break free from the food coma and head to a Christmas pop-up bar for a well-deserved cocktail, ride a beer bus to a few craft breweries, or yes, ok -- shop. But do it locally at one of the markets happening this weekend.

Sip festive cocktails at a Miracle pop up

Wednesday, November 27- Monday, December 30
Avanti Food & Beverage, Arvada Tavern, and 1414 Larimer Street
This Christmased-out pop-up returns to the Mile High this weekend with not one, but three locations where you can sip holiday inspired cocktails while surrounded by more decorations than you think. No grinches allowed.
Cost: Depends how much you drink

Dine at a Post-Thanksgiving Surf 'n' Turf Fiesta

Friday, November 29
The cooking is done (and so are the dishes, hopefully) so let someone else feed you on Black Friday. Take a break from all your deal hunting to indulge in a special menu featuring two items not found on the regular menu at this award winning restaurant: burgers and octopus sandwiches. The Beaujolais will be flowing and you can celebrate the fact that you didn’t ruin the turkey with some bubbly by the glass.
Cost: How hungry are you?

Find local gifts at the Jefferson Square Holiday Affair

Friday, November 29
25th & Eliot Streets
Local businesses are coming together to put on this outdoor holiday market. Shop the vendor booths and mobile boutiques for the ideal gift for everyone on your list. There will also be eats from Sarto’s and other neighborhood restaurants, hot cocoa and hot toddies, and even roasted chestnuts to snack on.
Cost: Free to attend

Kick off the holiday season at Light the Lights 2019

Friday, November 29
Denver City and County Building
The traditional kickoff to the holiday season in the Mile High is here. The event starts with a festival at Civic Center Park at 4pm followed by Mayor Hancock flipping the lights on at the City & County Building between 6:30-7pm. And for even more holiday cheer, Union Station’s Grand Illumination is happening on the same night.
Cost: Free to attend

Shop the Stapleton Holiday BAZAAR

Friday, November 29 - Sunday, December 1
The Shops at Northfield Stapleton
Part market, part party, this is one shopping trip that promises to be infinitely better than any sale at a big box store. Over 60 vendors will be on-hand along with food trucks, cocktails, and local craft beer and wine tasting. The event also features a shop and sip experience on Friday and Saturday from 5-8pm that includes unlimited boozy refreshments for $25 if you score an early bird ticket.
Cost: General admission is free

Dress like a cat for a themed bar crawl

Saturday, November 30
Starts at Bang Up to the Elephant
You should not give your cat booze. But you should go all-in on this cat-themed bar crawl that supports Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue. Participants will head to stops like 1-Up Colfax and Charlie’s for drink and shot freebies as well as specials. Cat-centric wear is encouraged. Your purring four legged friend will be proud.
Cost: Tickets are $20

Ride the beer bus

Saturday, November 30
Comrade Brewing, Platt Park Brewing, Copper Kettle and Alternation Brewing
Like a school bus, but instead of going to classes, you get beer! This is your chance to sample the goods at four different breweries that each have their own style without having to worry about racking up the ride charges.
Cost: $5 to ride all day

Dress like an elf for a bar crawl

Saturday, November 30
Downtown Littleton
Pick up your tickets for a boozy Small Business Saturday adventure to some of Littleton’s best eateries. The price includes three drink tickets for a beverage at the participating restaurants and one discounted appetizer. And if you show up in the best elf attire, you could also win a $50 gift card.
Cost: Tickets are $35

See the illumination of the new Mile High Tree

Saturday, November 30
Sculpture Park
This new holiday attraction is a must. The 110-foot-tall conical structure holds up to 140 people at a time and the installation features light and music shows every 30 minutes with classic holiday songs, as well as recorded performances by the Colorado Symphony in between shows. The official lighting will include a performance by the University of Colorado Denver’s all-female a capella group, Lark, and an appearance by Mayor Michael Hancock.
Cost: Free to attend

Find unique gifts at the 2019 Horseshoe Holiday Market

Saturday, November 30 - Sunday, December 1
3350 Federal Blvd.
Featuring handmade, vintage, and unique items from over 100 local vendors, this is way better than online shopping. Find all kinds of treasures for everyone on your list, from fine art and clothing to home decor and artisanal foods.
Cost: Admission is free but bring a donation for the Children's Hospital Art Therapy Program
