Denver Metro's Best Public Golf Courses
Are you a golfer? Yay or Nay? Colorado is a Golfers dream for many reasons - You are able to play pretty much all year around, your ball travels faster because of the elevation, and of course all the scenic views! My husband is an avid golfer himself, and is in the process of becoming a Pro. That being said, he has played at MANY golf courses around Denver Metro, and I have been in the cart watching at many of them. (And hitting a few balls when I can, ha!) I love the sport of Golf. You are able to be outside and enjoy nature. Below is our list of Denver Metro's best public golf courses :)
1) Fossil Trace Golf Club - Golden, CO
This course is tucked up right on the foothills, and the views are BEAUTIFUL. The course is always very nicely maintained and definitley tests your golf game. Prices are a little on the higher side, ranging from $70-$140 for 18 holes.(Cart fees included)
2) Bear Dance - Larkspur, CO
This course is about 40 min south of Denver. If you are a golfer, and have not played here before - it is a must! It has been voted "Denver's Best Golf Course" from 2014-2019. It is 18 holes of pure championship golf that meander through 750 acres of mountainous terrain, ridges, valleys, and pine cover. With elevation of 6,800 ft, it has many elevated tees, and great views of the Rocky Mountains. Prices ranges similar to Fossil Trace at $80-$140 for 18 holes.
3) The Dunes at Riverdale - Brighton, CO
This course is very different from the first two. If you prefer more open space and fair ways, with not as much elevation change, then this one is for you! It is designed by Pete Dye, who is a very known golf course designer. Being out east, you get a great skyline view of the mountains too! Prices are more affordable here ranging from $55-$75 for 18 holes.
4) Murphy Creek Golf Course - Aurora, CO
This course is similar to The Dunes at Riverdale with the link style and more open space. The clubhouse is beautiful, and they designed it as a Scottish Farmhouse. This is a great course for golfers to practice their game while being on a budget. Golf can be very expensive, but that doesn't mean you can't find affordable, yet great courses like this one! Prices range from $40-$60 for 18 holes.
5) Willis Case Golf Course - Denver, CO
This course is owned by the city of Denver, and is only about 7 miles from downtown. That being said, you have awesome views of the city, and mountains! The front 9 is more challenging than the back 9, but overall it's a great course for any golfer. Prices are also very affordable, ranging from $35-$55 for 18 holes.
6) Arrowhead Golf Club - Littleton, CO
This course is truly one of a kind, and is fairly difficult for the average golfer. With the unique rock formations and narrow fairways, it definitely challenges you. However - you must experiance it! My husband and I got married here, and all his friends played golf the day before and had such a great time. The views are unreal. You see a lot of wildlife too! It is definitely a little pricey, ranging from $60-$140. If you go at Twilight (early evening) then you will get the best bang for your buck!
For all you Golfers out there, I hope this list helped you choose your next course! There are many more great ones out there as well too. Enjoy!! :)
