Roller Skate in an Anime Costume and More Things to Do in Denver This Weekend

These are all your local must-hit food and music festivals, events, movies, markets, deals, and concerts to help you make the most of your weekend.

Whether you’re into playing with Legos, drinking, running, skating, or spelling (yes, spelling), there’s an event for you this weekend in Denver. From a Lego-themed pop-up bar to the Colfax marathon to an adult spelling bee, there really is something for everyone. There’s also an anime/cosplay roller disco, a pedal-powered happy hour, farmers markets, and a Shania Twain show. Here, where to explore it all this weekend.

Friday - Sunday, May 19 - 21, 11 am - 11 pm
Capitol Hill
A Lego ping pong table. A Lego throne. A Lego ball pit. These are just some of the Lego creations you’ll find at the Brick Bar pop-up this weekend at the Sports Castle, where more than one million blocks await your creativity. Prizes will be awarded for the best creations, but the real prize will be your Lego’d out TikTok videos.
Cost: $22

Friday, May 19, 7 pm - 2 am
It’s anime and cosplay night at Tracks, which could very well make for the best-ever costumes at the roller disco party. Skate your little hearts out, dust off your Sailor Moon costume, and maybe even belt out some tunes in the karaoke room. Pikachu costumes highly recommended.
Cost: From $10

Saturday & Sunday, May 20 & 21
Whether you’ve been training for the full Sunday marathon or just want to drop in for the Saturday 5K, there’s a lot of running to be had this weekend. The Colfax Marathon events take over the streets—and the Denver Zoo!—all weekend long.
Cost: From $49

Sunday, May 21, 7 - 9 pm
Grammar nerds, Scrabble aficionados, and overachievers take note: The Family Jones is hosting an adult spelling bee Sunday night. Complete with boozy prizes, individual and team competitions, and naughty words galore, “Adult Spelling Bee Champion” is a line you need for your resume.

Friday, May 19, 4 - 7 pm
To celebrate Bike to Work Day on Friday, Breckenridge Brewery will keep the two-wheeling party going into the night at their Littleton location. The zero-waste shindig includes live music, bike-themed games, prizes, and a free pint to anyone who pedals on over.

Sunday, May 21, 9 am - 1 pm
‘Tis the season for strolling farmers markets for tomato plants, locally grown greens, and crusty breads. The Highland Square market kicks off the season Sunday, and this is important because the Highland Square market has a bar. So yes, get sipping and strolling.
Cost: Free entry

Friday, May 19 - Sunday, May 21
Cherry Creek
Cherry Creek’s posh rooftop bar Elevated is now open for the season. Head up—way up—to the top of the Halcyon hotel for killer views, cocktails, and private cabanas from which to enjoy the scene.
Cost: Free entry

Sunday, May 21, 7:30 pm
A country music queen is stopping into Ball Arena Sunday night, as Shania Twain brings her Queen of Me tour to Denver. Don your best boots and leopard print for a night of scream-singing along that will hopefully impress you much.
