There was a time, pre pandemic, where it was a wise choice to purchase a home from the bottom up.  As a buyer you could avoid bidding wars, get exactly what you wanted and still do this at a pretty reasonable price.

Here we are, post pandemic ish, in a world of shortages.  The lumber shortage did a doosie on the world of new construction homes and prices have soared.  Unfortuanately, the lowering prices of lumber haven't influenced the price of homes.

So, where's the balance now?  Is it still worth the cost to purchase a new construction home or battle for something that is ready to go?
