First things first here are some signs for overall home improvement scams:

  • Being asked to pay for a job in its entirety upfront and in cash

  • Is not visible online or doesn't have an actual business address

  • Offers a discount to find other customers

  • Prices are low and/or too-good-to-be-true

  • Pressure to act immediately to get a special offer or discount

  • Says repairs must be done immediately because you are in danger or your safety is at risk

  • Tries to get you to sign contracts without reading them or sign blank pages

  • Knocks on your door unsolicited

  • Offers free materials

  • Asks to come into your home

  • Talks fast to try to confuse you

How to avoid these scams...check out your local resources like state consumer offices.  The best one is to know what to look out for!
