Denver Light Rail Expansion

Denver is a city of constant growth thanks to a strong real estate and job market. Denver has become one of the fastest growing cities in the nation thanks to constant influx of out of state residents looking for new challenges and fresh starts. Current residents and natives can easily recognize how this influx has affected home values as well as traffic congestion. Over the last 6 years Denver has grown significantly across the metro area as well as the outlying suburbs. This growth has sparked new developments in the outlying areas like Green Valley Ranch, Southeast Aurora, and Parker. Even with all of these new developments even more is needed to handle the staggering amount of individuals moving to Colorado every month. Sterling Ranch is a new development planned to include over 5,000 single family homes built over the next 25 years just southwest of Highlands Ranch. The new developments and increasing number of residents has strained the Colorado infrastructure, causing heavy congestion even during non-peak hours. The Denver RTD Light Rail system has put new plans in motion to help expand the current train system to reach more residents over the next 4-6 years.

As many know the Light Rail system just recently finished their W line reaching from Golden to Downtown Denver. Construction is also underway on the East rail line and I-225 extension as part of the Fastracks plan to reach from Denver to DIA. Also under construction is the Gold Line that will access Wheat Ridge to Denver's Union Station. Other planned lines are the Central rail extension, North Metro rail line, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest rail lines.
