Denver Community Gets More Than They Bargain For With The Grand Opening Of Trader Joes

Trader Joe's is known for its wide variety of unique items, sold at great prices, and usually not to be found anywhere else on the planet.  Items that suddenly make you feel you can’t live without, especially if you don’t reside near a TJ’s store.  Furthermore, giving one the urge to smuggle things such as, bottles of Two Buck Chuck, black bean dip, cookie butter, and boxes of coconut wafer cookies in their luggage back home (those of you familiar with Trader Joe's know exactly what I am talking about).

With the grand opening of 2 Colorado locations on February 14 (and another Denver store on its way), Trader Joe’s fans’ and supporters’ swarm in masses ready to shop and seek out their favorite future habit.  This publicity has brought mad chaos and traffic jams to the community of the TJ’s store located on 8th and Colorado in Denver.  Neighbors voice their concerns as the overflow of traffic fills the neighborhood streets.  Neighbors gathered signatures to petition the store not having adequate parking spaces to accommodate Trader Joe’s customers.  As per code, TJ’s is well above what is required by the state, which is 36 parking spots, Trader Joe’s has about 90.  This has become such an issue that a town hall meeting was organized and hosted by Denver City Councilwoman Mary Beth Susman, on Thursday night, to discuss the parking and traffic associated with the Denver community. The neighbors want a fix and they want it now.

According to 7News, Public works is planning on stepping up parking enforcement within the neighborhood.  Mary Beth Susman believes that the excitement of the new store will die down in six to eight months.  Trader Joe’s is planning to build up to 15 to 20 stores in the Denver Metro area in the next few years, which will hopefully ease some pressure from the 8th and Colorado grocery store.
I say just move!! But maybe I am being a bit biased.
