Colorado Ranks 2 For Best States For Retirement
Bankrate released its article "The top 10 best states for your retirement" today. Colorado earned the number 2 spot for for 3 primary reasons.
1) Health Care Quality - Colorado's strengths are in a low prevalence of obesity, physical inactivity and diabetes. In the past year preventable hospitalizations decreased 13%, smoking decreased 11%. In the past 10 years cardiovascular deaths decreased 27% according to America's Health Rankings web site. The Commonwealth fund recently ranked Colorado sixth-best in the nation according to a recent article in the Denver Post.
2) Cost of Living - Colorado's cost of living is below average in nearly all the categories defined on Sperling's best places web site.
3) Seniors' overall well-being - Colorado has been in the top 10 of the Gallup-Healthways well-being index for eight straight years.
