Everyone has a friend of a cousin’s half brother in real estate, is the magic key that opens all doors (literally) and great personality enough when it comes to choosing a real estate professional?  Any agent can set up showings, show property, and even list property.  It’s what happens next that can be your win or lose in real estate.  Real estate is not meant to be recreational it is impossible to stay up to date on the latest market trends, rules and technology working when a deal comes around. 
Don’t be afraid to interview a potential agent the person is going to represent your best interests and negotiate on your behalf.  Some great questions to ask are:
  • How long have you been in real estate?
  • Are you a full time agent?
  • How do you update your knowledge of the current market conditions and marketing strategies? 
  • Why should I choose you as my agent?        
  • What areas do you specialize in?   
  • Can you give me references?       
  • Do you have a team in place?   
  • What is your average list price to sell ratio?
