Buying your first home can be very exciting. Having a place of your own and being able to paint, decorate and put your own personal stamp is very rewarding.

However, the buying process can be confusing not to mention stressful. My advice is to have a good game plan with a strong buying strategy to eliminate most of the anxiety you may experience. The more information you understand the more smoothly the buying process will go for you.

The biggest question with most buyers is the mortgage payment. How much can I afford? What type of loan should I get?  How much do I have to put down? Will I qualify????

The first step before looking at homes is finding a qualified lender that will help you understand your loan options and what mortgage payment would best fit your budget. This meeting should include getting pre-qualified or pre-approved for a loan. This will put you in a position of strength when placing an offer on a home.
When you meet with your lender ask questions. Have them explain the loan approval process, interest rates, appraisal, and the actual costs so you fully understand the terms of the loan. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion.
Once pre-qualified, you can get with your Realtor and start the search for your future home.
Have fun and good Home Hunting!
