Denver has so much to offer and the world is on to all the greatness Denver provides to families, singles, young, old, internationals, and a variety of industries and demographics.  Here are some great things to know if you are moving or are new to the area.

  1. Beautiful sunny weather!  It is amazing how many people think it snows all the time.  Yes, it snows in Denver but the winters are not brutal.  It is said that we get about 300 days of sunshine a year.  When it snows, it melts quickly.

  2. Lots of neighborhoods in Denver and suburbs  - It is important to research the neighborhoods.  They all offer a different vibe and set of amenities.  The best part about Denver is you truly have a plethora of areas to meet any person or families needs.

  3. Taxes and insurance- The state income tax rate is 4.63% for everyone!  Property taxes vary and although low, the steady increase in home values has impacted the amount you pay in taxes.  One thing to keep in mind, car tags are high.   Although some may think insurance for home and cars are high it is not too bad.  Car insurance tends to higher due to Colorado being a high state for uninsured motorist and hail damage.

  4. Always bring a jacket, sunscreen, and water - "If you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes"  The weather changes quickly you may leave with a jacket but that doesn't mean you won't need sunscreen at that festival or farmers market.  High altitude means more UV exposures.  Also, with the high altitude and dry weather it is important to stay hydrated.  Is it recommended to drink more than 8 glasses of water a day.

  5. Casual - You will be shocked at how casual Denver is.  So many people dress down even to places you would least expect.  The best thing about this is, you can "come as you are".  If you just went for a hike, no worries, we still want you to meet up for dinner.  You can always expect that someone will be dressed more casual than you.  It may surprise you at first but everyone begins to embrace the active lifestyle.

  6. Skiing - It is great being so close to some of the best ski resorts.  Just be ware the traffic is not so wonderful when heading up on the weekend.
